- About MinnaPlan Raid Planner
For any guild ever struggling to explain who needs to stand where and do what in a boss encounter, this might help you out.
You can import a list of players from the current raid, add players/mobs/icons manually, select one of the many included 3D maps as a backdrop (covering Gruul/Mag/SSC and TK), and drag them around broadcasting the results in real time to the raid.
Any raid leader or person with assist can right click icons to cycle between healers and tanks, and healers automatically are joined with a line to the nearest tank. They can also spam the resulting healing list to the raid.
You can save any plans you have made (either in a raid or prior to it), and then load them later on. You can also fit a current raid to any saved one, so you can quickly adjust previously successful tactics to a new raid makeup.
Live updates are connection friendly, and people will receive them even if they haven't opened the window. And you only broadcast whilst your window is open (to prevent any additional unnecessary network traffic during a fight).
Type /minnaplan help for options!
Additional notes: By editing MinnaMaps.lua and MinnaIcons.lua you can add your own custom icons and map packs (note everyone else on the raid will require the same icon/map packs if you add your own new graphics to the Textures directory)
Import Raid From List uses the format below, although the instance name is actually not important, but the number at the end must be 1: ROLLCALL*Serpentshrine Cavern*1 Necromonger*Warrior*1 Cenodin*Paladin*1 Vampira*Mage*1

Alantiee saidI have a problem, I downloaded this addon today to try it, however I extracted it as usual and it is in my addon list on my computer but not in the addon list when I'm about to log in.
I have loaded out of date addons so it's not that. Anyone got any ideas?

Des2 saidI downloaded this before and it worked fine. I recently redownloded it and when I type /mp show, nothing comes up. What am I missing?

RobertJ saidIt should be stored in the layout-cache.txt file, are you editing the right one? Sometimes WoW has multiple ones across directories in WTF, with some for local characters and others across all.

alexthemans saidYou have done a great job,
RobertJ.
However, I recommend you extracting the text strings for UI display, or captions from the main program to a separate LUA. It would help us to maintain a multi-language version of this UI. Many thanks.

RobertJ saidBasically it has no concept of what specs your players are, therefore it does the following:
1) Match anyone who is the same name to the same position (so people are always on jobs they are familiar with)
2) Match anyone of the same class AND type to the remaining spots
3) Leave anyone unmatched on the pasteboard to the right
So if you make sure in the raid you saved that you've marked Tanks as tanks, Healers as healers, it should match them up to the same class spots on the main board.
If you don't do that, it won't match them, simply because it has no concept of class specs otherwise. And you'll end up accidentally putting a DPS warrior where a prot one should be, or a shadow priest where a holy one sits.
There will always be a bit of manual swapping, but it's easy to see who these are when you are in the raid, since anyone not in the raid flashes. And it's better to have to do this, than end up with someone in the wrong job. ;)

Fuoco saidI understand RobertJ, but I think there is a bug.
The matching WORKS properly, BUT the matched player is *NOT* put in the position with the right name when the match is done by class/type, but with the class name.
Example: I've got a Priest/Healer and a Warrior/Tank in the Saved raid, and I have Fuoco (Mage/Normal) and Lytz (Priest/Healer) in the current raid.
Fit To Raid does the following:
Warrior (Tank) ---> WARRIOR (Tank) [it puts it UPPERCASE to tell me its unmatched)
Priest (Healer ---> Priest (Healer) [this matches lytz and lytz was properly REMOVED from the paste board, BUT I DONT SEE LYTZ NAME IN THE ICON, but I still see Priest!!! I can't understand where is lytz now!]
and fuoco remains in the pasteboard.
What I would like to see is that IF someone matches by class and type, the icon gets updated witht he NAME of the matched person, and the unmatched icons remain unchanged).
This would mean:
Warrior (Tank) ---> Warrior (Tank) [unmatched, remains Warrior, no uppercase]
Priest (Healer) ---> Lytz (Healer) [matched Lytz, so icon gets Lytz name properly and doesn't remain Priest as does now]
Understand? :)
It would work MUCH better this way IMHO :)

Fuoco saidFirst of all, thank you for the wonderful addon!
One question though: I've had a look at the FitToRaid function, and I have one suggestion:
FitToRaid should CHANGE the name of the item to the matched Player's Name. This doesn't happen presently, but the matched name remain the same (Priest ---> Priest instead of Priest ---> GuildPriestName), and the unmatched go uppercase (Priest ---> PRIEST, to warn it's not matched).
I would leave the unmatched as they are and write the matched player name in the icon... it's way better this way IMHO :)
Otherwise I always have to manually do a 'swap with' to properly assign the various players to the various roles/places.
Thanks in advance :)

RobertJ saidI really should add a reset command. :/
Until then they need to log out, and edit their layout-cache.txt file under the character directory (search under WTF).
Just delete the entries for anything that goes like this:
Frame: MinnaPlanFrame
FrameLevel: 1
Anchor: TOP
X: -33
Y: -22
W: 850
H: 700

elitesky saidIt really one great addon to help us.
But,how to reset this UI?
Some of my friends saids that once they move the pasteboard out of the screen , then it can't be move back!
I did tell them try to delete wtf of MinnaPlan.lua and MinnaPlan.lua.bak ,but they told me it still not work.
thx

RobertJ saidAmalg, make your own map pack! Create TGA files that are 24bit, and 512x512 in resolution, and edit the MinnaMaps.lua file to include them.
The reason there are no 2d maps is twofold, firstly the 3d ones relate much better to what you can see, and secondly I could never find a decent source.
Vish, no idea on that, only report of it I've seen. :(

vishni saidthx for a really great addon :)
i've got a little problem however. for some reason, i can't add custom icons. every time i move my pointer over the custom icon menu, the sub-menu opens ( where you can choose from class icons, monster icons and so on) but i can't enter those menus. i've reinstalled the addon twice but nothing changes.
do you have some idea how to fix that?
a feature i miss btw is to simply draw inside the picture like on a whiteboard. that would make the addon perfect :)
