I googled on my addon name for fun, and noticed there are still forum posts being made (even a few days ago) about this addon, just to clear this out:

I still see goldspam whispers!
Then the chance is 99% that this is an addon conflict, please PM me a list of your addons, and maybe even a screenshot if this happens to you!

Addon Description
Always wanted to get rid of these gold spammers? Then WRUGS might be something for you!
What is WRUGS?
WRUGS is a whisper authentication addon for World of Warcraft. This addon is mainly
created as an addon against gold spammers, but aswell as a project to learn lua for me.
But as everyone can make a mistake, there might be any bug in the addon. If you find
any bug, or error message, please make a screenshot and PM it to me.
Trust me, you won't get any gold spam whisper until there's anything made against this
addon.
WRUGS will basically block any whisper you will receive, but to make it a bit more doable
it will not block the following players:
- Players from your guild
- Players from your party
- Players from your raid
- Players from your friendslist
- NPCs
- Gamemasters
Which addons does WRUGS support?
I'm still working on getting more and more addons supported, so far the following addons are supported:
- WoW Instant Messenger (WIM)
- La vendetta bossmods
- Chatr
Does WRUGS have any future plans?
Yes, there are a few things that might showup on later versions:
- A Graphical User Interface (GUI) (which doesn't take too much memory).
- An integrated /who function which will make it possible to block level 1's.
- An optional function with a question/answer to authenticate (on request).
- A function to set the colors of your WRUGS messages.
If you've got any idea to improve WRUGS, let me know! The same goes for bug reports, just post them if you
can find any (a list of your addons and a screenshot are very helpful while reporting a bug!).
The blocked player will receive a message that will tell the command to authenticate with
WRUGS. The command the player has to send you, is WRUGS by default, but can be set to
anything you like with the /wrugs setpass command.
Commandlist:
- /wrugs -- This command will show the status of WRUGS.
- /wrugs setpass [New Pass] -- This command will set a new authentication password.
- /wrugs hidepass -- This command will toggle the function to hide the password. at your automatic reply when a player is not authenticated yet. Using this command will toggle it on/off.
- /wrugs privacy -- This is the same idea as the hidepass command, it will just return a different automatic reply. Using this command will toggle it on/off.
- /wrugs add [Playername] -- With this command you can manually authenticate players.
- /wrugs remove [Playername] -- With this command you can manually remove players from your whitelist.
- /wrugs purgeplayers -- WARNING! This command will purge the complete whitelist.
- /wrugs purgehistory -- WARNING! This command will purge the complete block history.
- /wrugs [On/Off] -- This command will turn on/off WRUGS.
If you think the addon sucks, just say so. But come up with arguments so I can actually improve the addon :-)

Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- Log in
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Lordfury007 saidI'm finding the current version of WRUGS works normally out of combat, but still sends messages through to my screen when i am in combat (but still records the messages in the WIM window). Not sure if it is another addon interfering, I've got loads of addons, and if nobody else can reproduce the problem, ill start disabling some until i find the offender...
Any help?

Beelzebubbles saidThis addon is easy to set up and works wonderfully for me so far. As a holy paladin, I used to be inundated with spam for pickup groups. After a while, it started to annoy and then infuriate me. Never again, thanks to WRUGS!
A graphical interface would be handy, but if it stays the way it is, I'll still be happy with it.

A way to whitelist guilds other than my own would also be great!

you can get a mod called spammenot

it prevents on default users level 2 and below from whispering you or inviting you to a group and you can set the level cap to whatever you like.

cikedo saidFirst off - love the addon, I use it to avoid random group whispers (for the most part), spam whispers, and just the overall privacy from anyone I don't need to speak with - on that note I wish I could change how it greets people and I saw some one do it once... I think. I'm a priest, I'm shadow, I suck at healing, point being...I'd love for it to say that. Exactly, any command that will allow me to do this? I can't seem to find it if there is one.
Also, if I could make it so that people level X and below couldn't whisper me at all, WRUGS password or not, I hate gold asks, I don't have enough money for me and they decide I should give them some XD No thanks!

magneeto saidI love this mod! Don't have to worry about gold sellers now (thanks Blizzard!), but it still let's me play in peace without being annoyed to death! It would be nice if you added functions to block random guild invites, group invites, and anyone throwing a guild charter in your face! It would help add to the privacy functions of your already great add-on!

SlompOchomp saidAgree, though I didn’t even give Blizzard a chance. I love this MOD because it is simple and does the job and also still working well with WIM. I noticed WIM does the ignoring those annoying level 1s!. Looking forward to updates also although I use the privacy function most of the time, so their probably won’t be much to update their. I got an idea; how about a GUI for the LOC_WRUGS_MSGBLOCKED = LOC_WRUGS_MSGPRIVACY= LOC_WRUGS_MSGHIDPASS= so that we can enter it in a GUI rather than editing the localization.lua. Also maybe some people like to see what was blocked, so how about throwing in a View Blocked MSG's in that GUI linking to that WRUGS.lua file. I know it's easy to do all this when in windowed mode, but just some little things to throw in for a new version.

Looking forward to version 2.0 and a lot of the options several people have suggested like ignoring those annoying level 1s!

neuroticus saidOK I've been using Wrugs for a bit. I have some suggestions for this wonderful script:
1. A blacklist, not intended for spammers, just really annoying people. Ignore list, if you will, only unlimited size. I know there is capability to add people, but I think they can un-block themselves, right? No good. 2. Being able to block people on other channels (say, shout, general, trade, etc) after they are added. 3. Somehow notifying me when I party with someone on my list. There are times when I am thrown into a party with someone who really annoyed me in the past--only I forgot. I want to remember.
