About WIM (WoW Instant Messenger)

WIM (WoW Instant Messenger) is a World of Warcraft addon which helps you to manage your whispers by making them into a classic instant messenger interface such as AIM, Yahoo and MSN.

With game play in mind, WIM has a large array of options where you can customize how WIM interacts during different situations, such as while you are in combat or in town talking to friends or selling your crafts.

WIM now comes with a built in Spam Blocker which utilizes WIM's new plugin interface.

***UPGRADING TO WIM 2.4.9? PLEASE READ!***

Because of the major changes made to WIM in 2.4, you must delete your WIM folder in your Addons folder before installing this update. After installation, you must restart WoW. Installation Guide

Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
  - Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
  - WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
  - WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
  - StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
Start World of Warcraft
Make sure AddOns are installed
- Log in
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.

Translations

When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".

TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)

When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.

If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support

WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

REQUEST of FEATURE:
* Ignore whispers from characters whit level equal or lower then X

By ignoring all level 1 chars, you can get rid of alot of spam

This has already been released. There are multiple plugins for WIM available on the www.wimaddon.com website. Look for the plugin called SpamBlocker.
Does exactly what you want.

ok not to be rude but how come out of all the mods that can have plugins or skins this one seems to never get any love at all via curse if there is a stash of plugins/skins please tell me the link so i can finaly have some options to my boring chatting life

Not being rude. WIM 3.0 is currently being developed and with such is introducing a better/stronger plugin system. (Possibly skins too). The initial attempt at a plugin interface failed due to my lack of design. It was kind of hacked into there. The new system is built around such a concept and will hopefully invite more people to contribute their works.

After disabling all my addons one by one I found out that it's this addon (WIM) that causes my WHOLE COMPUTER to lock up and hang. I have to pull the plug on it. I liked it very much, but; Removed, never to be added again....

I'm having errors doing /who commands (Wont let me hit enter). This even breaks the in game who tab. Any ideas whats going on?

First off, amazing addon, great work!

I love this addon but there is one thing that I think is missing and I'd like to make a request. If you have the time, do you think you could add a button on the shortcut bar as a "target" button? What it would do is just to run a simple /target "player in chat" script. This would make it real quick to find a person if you're doing a trade or to buff the person in a raid.

It would be most appriciated, so if you do decide to do it, thank you in advance.

And again, great addon!

Love the mod, however it seems that WIM has a problem with craftlist2 (or any craft list for the matter). Basically: no one can recieve tells from me using craftlist, nor can i recieve them from myself. But, i can receive tells from other people's craftlists. i turned WIM off, and my CL2 works fine.

Found it out im getting erors like Interface/WIm/ambush and messages like that whenever i click y own portrait

fixed was problem of another addon

Is there a way to have a window for party/raid chat? One for guild would be nice as well.
I tried your addon, it looks perfect, but since i didn't find how to have party chat, i switched to whisper enhanced. I would be very happy to come back to it, if this was implemented!
