Recipe Radar assists players in finding recipes. It knows about vendors who sell recipes in the current region or by profession. It has a number of filtering options and can even locate vendors on the world map.
Tips:
- There are two "tabs": the main "radar" tab and one that searches by profession!
- You can bind a key to Recipe Radar through the main menu!
- There are lots of filtering options - use the dropdowns to customize Recipe Radar!
- Some docs and brief tutorials are available at the Recipe Radar home page!
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

TagofFire saidWell, I can only say I love this AddOn. And even though it fixes some of the errors that were made in the fan update Recipe Radar v1.03, I'd rather use that version.
This original version of Recipe Radar does not display the dropping recipes from Hostile mobs.
The thing I'm hoping for is that this original Recipe Radar AddOn gets updated with including of the dropping recipes, as well as the world drops (No list of mobs has to be added, a little title "World Drop" or if it's a zone drop something like "Ahn'Qiraj Bosses" suffices.) since that was left out in both AddOns.
Besides this, thank you for making this mod as it has made my quest for gathering all Enchanting formulae much easier.
PS: Add Ahune's Enchanting formula. Everyone who doesn't have it by the 5th of July will scream out in terror and I want to be there to laugh at them, muawhaha. =)

dragonchat20 saidIf you want a list of dropped recipes, Ackis Recipe List can show you. It also shows hostile and quest recipes as well, but does not give a graphical location of where things are.
That is why I use Recipe Radar because it can show, on the map and on its screen, where the vendor is.
Using both Ackis Recipe List and Recipe Radar together is a great combination. I highly recommend using both of these addons.

MerlynTheMage saidLove the concept behind this mod mate it has lots of promise.
For some reason the icons are not displaying on the main map for me.
I have the latest versions of both cartographer & atlas installed could this be a contributing factor?
Unfortunately I'm going to unload this mod and try it out again after the next update.
The reason being is that it indicated via the minimap that one vendor had 3 learnable patterns, the Recipe Radar window listed 1 pattern for the same vendor and in fact the vendor had no patterns at all.
The vendor in question is Tharynn Bouden in Elwynn Forest.
A useful feature would also be the possibilty to track two trades for one character, i.e. the one I tested it on is both an enchanter & a tailor.
Cheers

nahaz83 saidThis is not detecting many of my enchants that I already know. It shows that I need to learn many I have - even when on that toon, and opening the enchant window. I highlight the recipe, even in the reciperadar window, and it properly shows 'already known', but it's still on the list showing as needed by that toon...
Any clues?

kevmo1977 saidWhy does the addon work on my alts but not my main. I don't even see the mini map button on my main, yet it is there for all 8 of my alts. I tried uninstalling and installing again. Is there a /reciperadar or something i can type in to bring up the menu? I love the add on though on my alts, very helpful.

H0PE saidIf I set the minimap to follow player (non-static, so its turning "around" when I turn) the location of the scroll icons on minimap arent following the map.
Also for ages I got the issue that sometimes the addon shows recepies that already known and way out of my skill lvl like 20points before I learned them and they show up on the list. Dont know why this is happening, I experienced this again last week. Dont recall any error messages though just showing the recepies that is below the current skill as learnable (blacksmithing and enchanting ones).

ladenedge saidGah, Curse is pretty frustrating these days. Can't login to upload a fixed version, and when you do it doesn't even show up.
Anyway, I made a terrible mistake in v1.25 by not including a number of critical files. v1.26 fixes this problem, in theory, so please check it out when you get time. Thank you for the many reports, and please accept my humblest apologies for such an irresponsible release!

Omnina saidI would like to ask something.
I noticed there was or is a "Fan update" version now, in it there was added recipes from drops. Although this may or may not be the best solution. For a long time I would tell my guild..."I can get vendor, and trainer, but I have to hunt for the dropped ones" Is there a way, as maybe this other person has done...of adding drop recipes? I really did like the fact I was able to have more recipes, as for example my engineer was able to see the 2-3 ones from inside gnomergon, and that even though in a hostile area, I knew where to look for them. It would also me nice to include an average drop rate so the person can decide whether or not it is worth it for them. Thank you.
