Curse

Welcome to Curse

Posted Sep 17, 2008 by Nimloth

Welcome to the new and enhanced Curse-Gaming.com. We are proud to announce that after months of development, version 3 is finally out and available for full use.

In light of this, it is STRONGLY recommended that you take a Tour of the New Website.

From here on out, YOU - the user, is now in control of submitting news, images and files to the website just as much as we are. Should you find something unrevealed in WoW - post a news about it! Have a writeup about a zone to share? Make a wiki page and news linking to it!

Only wish to browse news for WoW? Only visit the WoW portal.

Your options for personalizing your viewing experience at Curse has been expanded tremendously. Between RSS feeds and improved favorites, stay on top of the news and files being updates. The bottom line is, with the new website we leave alot of the content management and customization in your hands.

In conclusion - The power is yours!

Sincerely,

Christopher Carter / Nimloth {{{ Public Relations Curse }}}

    I have a suggestion. In Curse › Accounts › Edit Profile > Location you can select your country. It should be common sense that Taiwan is not a province of China. If you respect the Taiwanese, please change it to "Taiwan".

    Thank you :)

    You update your site two days before a major wow update? BAD idea.

    @inselberg

    theres a whopping great big "WoW Addons" link on the top right of the page.

    To add to my earlier comment: I get a page not found error when I try to access the addon 'Auction House Favorites'. I have a lot of addons in my favorites list. The new page does not remember to sort if after 'last update'. But anyway, the info under 'last update' is inaccurate. And you do not show the latest version of an addon. In the former Curse I was able to see in one look which addon was updated for the next patch.

    Sambatek, the new site is actually performing better than v2, server wise.

    1. http://www.curse-gaming.com/static/images/portals/curse_full.jpg still says "beta"

    2. managing favorites sucks

    3. addon comment browsing now impossible

    4. adds do still not reliably stay in their place

    WTB version 2

    You're right, it does and its intentional. It is because were still fixing and changing stuff that people are giving us feedback on after release. Almost all of the commentry / opinions posted were not posted on the beta site which was up for evaluation for over 2 months, so - we decided to keep the beta sign as we went live in order to signify that we were still in the process of making the changes that people want :)

    Come tuesday, we hope to have solved any and all design issues or problems that you are experiencing with the site!

    The Tour of the New Website has either a weird link? Or is broken..

  • Mon, Nov 20 2006 7:46 PM ()

    imo... the site was way better V2.. V3 may be faster loading and stuff.. but V2 was easyer to handle and much easyer to see stuff

    GJ guys, its great! little question, very interesting what programing language and platform you used for portal?

    I like the new looks, and the faster load times, but sadly I find the WoW site (I guess that relates to all the portals), very confusing. I miss the old way that add-ons were being handled, such as "Most Recent Updates", "Newest Uploads", and so on.. Now, it is very hard to find out which add-ons you have been watching, which ones you have downloaded, and which ones you just want to watch for fun.. So if the way add-ons were handled at V2 could be implemented in V3, then I personally would be really happy :)

    You can still check the Newest Addons and the Latest updates on the main Addon section of the file hosting page.

    Seconding the preference for v2's handling of add-ons... I liked being able to leave an add-on marked as new so I could come back and look later, etc. etc. *sigh* Most of the add-ons I use aren't hosted anywhere else so I guess I'll have to get used to this clunkiness.

    Since this... "thing" is supposedly still being tweaked, option for all favorites to show on one page? Going to take me forever to tell all of them "No you're not new" and figure out which ones I had deliberately *not* marked as seen in 2.0.
